Bartending At Home
More people are socializing at home these days, with the rising costs of going out, the night people are finding it wiser to stay at home. If your an entertainer, and like to have friends and family around often then building a bar at home is a great idea. It is one of those unique features that will make your home different from the rest. A home bar not only looks great but they are practical as well, who wouldn’t want to serve drinks to their guests at a party.
Building your home bar is easy to do, and you can make it look as basic or as glamorous as you want it to be. Deciding where the home bar is to go is the first step. Although you want your bar to be a big feature you do not want it to occupy to much area it is in. Smaller is sometimes better, and you can make even small bars look and feel like a professional bar. Many people place bars in their basements or living areas, but you can also have them outside next to your pool or BBQ area. Once you have decided the area it is to be built in then you need to decide the shape and design.
There are literally thousands of different shapes, sizes, styles and designs of bars. From traditional wood ones to modern sleek metal ones, deciding which one will fit in with your tastes and the other décor in your house is your next challenge. You will then need to decide if you want electrics and water in your bar, you can then have ice machines, a sink and a fridge all within easy reach. Other storage you will need is shelves to store the bottles of liquor and glasses.
If you are a confident builder then you could buy a DIY bar kit from your local store or from the internet, they come with the basic materials to build it and all the instructions that you should need. These bars look ok, but are lacking personalized features. Unless you are an excellent carpenter and can hand make every element of your bar then calling a professionals is your best option. You can still help with the design of the bar, and all the accessories, but they will do the complicated bits.
Once your home bar is built then the socializing can begin and your bartending skills can start to be build too. Although everyone thinks bartending is not that hard it is a skill, and you will have to practice at home in your own bar. You will be able to learn the basics in your home bar, practice mixing drinks and come up with your own creations, there are thousands of different combinations available. If you enjoy serving drinks behind your own bar, chatting to people and coming up with new and interesting drinks then a career in bartending is probably a good idea for you. There are a lot of courses you can apply for both at bartending school and online, they can be completed in your own time and at your own pace and don’t forget the books. Building a bar at home might be the first step on a new career path.
